Vandalism of property in Kenya.

After independence there was a movement to destroy European houses. They demolished solid stone buildings and carted off the stone to build hovels of their own.

 

For many years we lived on Lomolo Sisal Estate. We had a house built of stone, surrounded by a wide veranda with a two bedroom guest house nearby, and a tennis court. This was situated on the Sisal estate not far from the Molo River.

 

I was looking at 'Google Earth' and noticed that the house had gone. My brother did a trip to Kenya last year and had a look at the devastation, see pictures below.
